Design story

Eye of Zul scored higher than Dragon Eye on paper — ISO 85.6% brightness against a 6.9% window — but it wasn't written for corundum's index to begin with. Its pavilion was re-angled facet by facet, rescaling each tier's distance to hold the girdle line exactly.

The result is a legitimate, cuttable design in its own right, kept and offered as a second signature cut rather than shelved — proof that the same verification process holds up even on a design that needed real intervention to get there, not just the one that happened to need none.

Rough & material notes

  • Same royal-blue Ceylon-style brief and rough spec as Dragon Eye.
  • Originally written for a different refractive index than corundum's — its pavilion had to be re-angled before it was even a candidate.
